Job 1:- all being well is about the correct price, if nothing is found lurking during initial testing.

Job 2:- a bit cheap on the material when you include your mark up. And the entire circuit does get tested before I touch it, so yes the italic text to Me is leading/misleading.

Job 3:- sounds about right, though I would want more sockets in the house than what they state.

Job 4:- the materials rate is too low, though you could possibly counteract this with a lower labour rate, depending on where everything is.

Some interesting items, but as they are all Builders, (not electricians), some of their facts and rates are a little out of perspective I think. We all know how much builders like to pay electricians or other skilled tradespersons for that matter.

The Building Sheriff, (aka Paul Puccioni) is a university educated builder who has been working across the UK for the past 25 years. Has worked with his grizzled Deputy, Chris Jowett and his school-mate Mark Campbell, since 1984 when Chris - an old man even then, employed Paul and Mark during as virtual slave labour and committed them both to a lifetime of digging holes, hanging off roofs and generally working their fingers to the bone for scant reward.Paul made regular appearances on GMTV and radio as a "Building Expert" and now contributes to numerous publications.

Deputy Chris Jowett lives in Wensleydale in North Yorkshire where he continues to work and write as well as eating quite a bit.

Deputy Mark Campbell works with Paul as jobbing (but very fine builders),

Thats a result of builders not electricians giving electrical guidance & costs!

I do think its not a bad site to point people to if they want to start bargaining prices though,

I especially like that they do actually put some weight on the testing issue, and if faults are already present.
