The twisting of the pairs is usually different. It's unlikely that the BT cable will meet the standards of even utp cat5e

Thanks for the reply`s the cable i have is not internal its the stuff they feed from the box to the house ,was left over on a new build estate

It is 'possible' to use BT cable as a network cable if it has the correct number and dimensions of cores. That said, The structure and twist of the internal cores is not to ethernet spec so there is absolutely no guarantee that it will work to specification and in the worst case may slow down the whole network ... So it is maybe possible but not desirable and certainly not professional..
