Cables In Fireplace

I've got a job on at the moment. The customer wanted lights above the fireplace. So I put the cables in front, thinking when the builders do the fire place they will hide them somewhere for me.........they have......in the bloody chimney breast! Is there anything I can get to protect the cables from the heat of the fireplace (it'll be a wood burning stove in it btw ) or will I have to reroute the cables?

re-route cables. but you should have clipped them where you wanted them, not left it to the builders

try burning dry ice instead of coal. should keep the cable cool
