Does anyone know how i would get rid of the wooden carpet rail that holds your carpet down, can i just put it in the bin or should i ask the fitters to take it away when they come to fit the new carpet?

I detest that stuff with a passion, only have to set eyes on it and half the skin gets ripped from your fingers

If the fitters are taking away your old carpet then get them to take the gripper rods too

I suspect the fitters will be breaking the law if they do not hold a waste carriers licence. As such many just leave the debris for the homeowner to dispose of, as the homeowner requires no licence to dispose of their own rubbish. Ask them, but don't be surprised if they say no.

the only reason that you are not allowed it is due to emergency services needing access over the fence.

I guess you could put up a sign that says: If you intend climbing over this fence please bring an ambulance with you!

in my old flat i had a flat roof extension and for some reason kids in the area seemed to like climbing up on it, thus pulling up all the flashing and felt!

i got sick of it in the end so i covered the roof in bitumen and smashed up some bottles onto it! needless to say they didnt climb up there again! nothing was ever said about it as it couldnt really be seen unless u clambered up!

on the fences i put anti vandal paint and the occasional screw driven thru a bit to far - got away with that one aswell as it just looked like when the fence was installed it wasnt screwed together properly!

You'll be surprised how often ****y traps like this are found by emergency services at the less Salubrious properties in our society. Ever wondered why fire crews go in using a Rescue Products - Forcible Entry Tools for access?

A couple that spring to mind that have been found over the past few years.

4" nails driven through floor boards under all windows & boards fxed down with 4" of nail pointing up.

Internal front Door & back door handles wired to mains (on/off switch found in leanto at side of house).

Razor blades pushed into banister hand rail.

Hypo needles stuck into clay & left hanging /swinging from stair case landing at head height

blades & hypo needles gripper rods fixed to underside & bull nose edge of window sill.

All manner of horrible liquids left in buckets above internal doors.

Just stick the rods in a metal bucket and burn them, then binn the tacks.

It is bad what they come across.

I have come across the nailed down windows and mains wired door handles myself many years ago as I woke up next a kebab eating sweat monster I took home from the night club and I was trying to escape....but luckily for me she had spent her giro on drink and the lecky meter was empty
