Noticed my cat seems to have lost a big patch of fur behind his right ear... I saw a clump of fur on the top of the stairs a couple of days ago, but it wasn't enough to cover the patch.
He seems fine to me but my wife thinks he is a bit more meow'y then usual.
I've checked him for fleas and he is completely clear. Any ideas? Bit reluctant to take him to the vets if its nothing as car journeys freak him right out.

If you need a better photo let me know as I have just taken that with my phone, not the dslr.
PS: that photo makes it look like he has a lot more scrut then he actually does.... there is /some/ scrut but not lots, also I've obviously moved as much fur out of the way as possible to show the bald bit... it doesn't look all that bad when his fur is down so he could have had it bald for a while and I wouldn't have noticed.
