Hi,

Just wondered what's best to use in the sds drill for raking out chases after the wall chaser has cut the edges of chase?

Would a gouge chisel be better than a flat chisel ?

Any opinions greatly appreciated

Cheers

If depends on with of chase I guess, But I generally use 25mm oval tube and set chaser just right for this (less nailing require then). I find a 1" standard sds chisel is perfect for the chase and then a 2" for the boxes. Always go roung with one chisel in pocket and swap as required.

never used a scutch in my life,

so I would have no idea of their effectiveness.

are they really that good?

I have only ever used flat chisels, but, to that end, Ive never used an sds drill for chasing, always something with a bit more oommph.

not quite, but close, I remember as an apprentice our labourer/tracker/mate moaning at the hire shop one day cos they only had a kango [whatever] and he wanted a bigger one!!!

bearing in mind we used to have something about this size with us for cleaning up the box cuts etc,

no chasing machines in those days, everything 'kango'd' for 20mm conduit, and breeze block walls too, none of this namby pamby thermalite rubbish!!!!

As Zeespark ... Scutch, just bought one the other day ..... How iv gone + 10 years without one I'll never know.
