When I was at college, if you went to the canteen too soon after it opened, you got yesterdays chips, pies and beans re heated. you soon learned to leave it half an hour so someone else got those and you got fresh.

No zombies?

I worked in a kichen long ago in a galaxy far far away and the chef I was working for was running out of beef for the sunday roast, suddenly he found some in the freezer...

What he didn't realise that it was for the owners dog and had been in the freezer for nearly a year!

No one died that day, no zombies either!

That's nothing, I bought a chicken dinner from Asda for 7 pence but when I eventually opened it, all I could see was a few corn seeds !

Was it that cheap because it had gone cold?

No, I actually expected the bacon to be crisp as a crisp thing, surprisingly, it was rather good, I think because it was a Saturday and almost 2 o'clock they had gave up on the lunch time rush, ibreckoned it was the better bet from the 50p chicken nuggets,,,, :|

Ah, bit of an idiot then you were, you have to plant them, you only get the chicken 7days later, :shakehead

There is a limit to the time you can leave hot food under the lamp's before the bacteria goes wild, someone then eats it and the zombie apocalypse begins...
Maybe I'm immune to that, some of the stuff I've consumed over the years,

I once bought a case of beer for £2 that was 12 years past, Monk, if anyone remembers it, maybe @rapparee remembers it, made by McEwans iirc, a great hangover cure, :)

The missus is forever on my case for eating stuff from the fridge that she would throw out, waste not want not is my theory, I still want for a lot tho, :|

Chicken is the one thing I wouldn't chance , other than that, the first bite is a good indication.

That's what I always say, I've built up a pretty healthy immune system after a complete lack of basic hygiene on some jobs so who knows what I have been handling my sandwiches with over the years!

Nah, be fine. I don't bother with any of that nonsense about jet washing the kitchen down after handling raw chicken. I still eat raw bacon rind.

I think buying something for 29p then chucking it in the bin is the opposite of a bargain!

Lurch, I think you missed the Rev's joke, it was a "rocket" salad, that "went off"...  Doh!

Mind, I may have missed your irony...
