Yes, they are pixels. They are controlled by a small controller, neither x lights or vixen, its one of these as shown below.

If anyone thinks they might like some, they are very very easy. (And not expensive)

The controller shown below is just over £20, the pixels (LED RGB lights) are about £10 for a string of 50, the only other thing you need (apart from a box to mount them in) is a power supply (Depending on pixel voltage, mine is 5v) which is less than £20. This controller can control over 1000 pixels. No, I do not sell them, take your pick on ebay.

Oh, and yes, multiple chase patterns and sequences, my controller has a remote control, and I leave the pixels out all year.

Oh interesting my lights are run through x lights on falcon pcbs which means I can music sequencing anfbprogram many different effects

Very nice Badger :D I had thought about something like that (Seen some fantastic videos of multiple pixels and controllers, like yours) but then I thought, mine is only in a straight line (I have another set elsewhere, it too is only in a straight line) so for me a controller such as you have is pointless, I just have to press a button to change my lights.
But to appreciate what you have done, we need a video :)
