He went back to the Naim helpdesk who apparently said that this is the same as is done perfectly safely at caravan parks??
Does he live in a caravan sited on a caravan park? If not then its not relevant anyway.

but it used to be that he would recommend aligning the screw heads on the terminals; preferably north/south
Suppose you're screwed(sorry about the pun) if you use Philips/Crosshead then!!: :coat

Spoke to the NIC technical line who said it would be OK although ideally both circuits would be RCD protected (his existing supply has no RCD's)

He referred me to 543.7 - not sure it's relevant as it says ok to separate earthing conductors, but I read it as conductors coming from same MET not separate conductors from separate earths??

I'd double check with the NIC mate, coz that sounds wrong to me & I was specifically told by my AE during a discussion at my last assessment that you could not have mixed earthing systems accessible!

I think the only realistic choice is to TT the entire installation maybe then you could separately rod the sockets.

Hi Paul,

Never mind what the assessor says, there is a specific reg that forbids simultaneously accessible earthing systems. Have not got book in front of me, but there definitely is a reg for this!!

john...

john,

My assessor is a walking regs book mate, hence why I took his word for it!

IIRC he even showed me the reg at the time, I don't retain such info TBH.

Old thread by the way!

Aha; "Simultaneously accessible exposed conductive parts shall be connected to the same earthing system individually, in groups or collectively"

Soooooo, no way on this planet could you have all different socket outlets with their own earth rod, [i think that this is what has been suggested]

Yes socket outlets on caravan parks each have their own earthing arrangement, but, this is for the socket supplying each caravan. As has been pointed out, each caravan is an installation in its own right, it is not mixing earthing arrangements in an installation.

I am sure that there are more regs that cover this, i just cannot find them right now!!!

john...

no, but Im going to start making some of these, Aggie has a load of old coasters lying about somewhere.!

doesnt anyone realise that all that gibberish russ andrews stuff is a con of the highest level of he musta seen you coming!!!!! ???

so, I think that means you could,

lots of large installs have numerous earth electrodes in place, and not all go back to the MET seperately,

so in essence it could be conceived that the sockets could be earthed individually, but it wouldnt simply be a matter of banging a rod in and a bit of 2.5 to it.

wow do people really buy this stuff??? so if i buy a single socketoutlet and engrave it, supermagicalaudiosocket can i charge 80 quid a pop?

what an arse. saying that if people buy it then welldone that man.

dont be stoopid,

you need a special handmade by thai virgins plastic backplate too,!

BTW, you could just buy some cheap white plastic ones from wilko's and rattle-can them black, no-one would know but us, 30% for me. :D

Just like these you mean
