hello chaps,

have to change some switches for clear ones, any pointers? i takeit the decorator has to paper right over the hole then screw on, though how do the screw on? bu toggle i presume so do they need a special back plate?

thanks

paul

I trust you did that post in a rush, Paul?

I have seen some, where the clear cover fits over a switch plate.

The cover is removed, some wall paper is cut to fit and then the cover clips back over the switch plate.

lol sorry chaps, was in a rush yes.

thats the ones Noz, do you have any tips? i can see grub screws so guess the round thing by switch is a nut, is there a speical yoke to screw onto the back box?

thanks

I've a feeling that it's a reasonably standard (flatplate/screwless) affair, which leaves the dolly switch poking out over which you put your paper and plastic front; which is then held in place by the ring nut... I'd think that maybe some circlip pliers might do the job?

I'm afraid I don't have personal experience of this type of switch, but I have seen the catalogues..

i fitted a load of these working for my previous employer and they are nothing special but very highly priced. i think they were simply crabtree switches with a different front plate and

ok chaps, just fitted them, they come with a bit of card that fits between the plastic and switch plate.

this is then painted or coverd in wallpaper.

What happens when you have to get to the switch after you papered over it, it seems like me you will make a right pigs ear of the papering.
