Yesterdays radio news  ( may have been just local)     Jaguar Land Rover  looking to employ another 1700 workers  ( I think that was the figure)   So ...bit of good news.

Today a phrase was slipped into a follow up news item ...  JLR have said they will have to look abroad because there are not the skills we need anymore in the Midlands .

I can think of the Jaguar plant they closed in Coventry for a start.

Redundant Peugeot workers.

Redundant Rover workers.

i applied there for a job at the i54 plant  and replied  i didnt meet there criteria and but i know some else who applied less qualifications but younger and got in by using a agency  dont think its lack of skills in area  as  plenty of middle aged skilled people around but i think it an age what goes against  them

Found the site to apply, pay is about what I was on 7 years ago when I lost my last full time job around the £35k mark.

I had other benefits though, but not the car purchase scheme!

However, it is shift work, I was on days & off the tools, the Engineering posts are not really in my field TBH & the money there is not to die for either only around £45k.

It is only when you get to the management rolls that you are talking a reasonable rate C £50k.

Not enough to tempt me to be bothered, mind I would like to do it for a laugh if I was not so busy!

Last employed job that did tempt me to apply was £52k pa and I had all they wanted except 2 things, HV & HV networks! ; (

I'm gonna keep thinking until the end of the year, Mrs SW & I have been invited to an Xmas do, so we'll see how it goes... IYKWIM

I'm just wondering if they want cheap Eastern European labour for track & assemby work .    The last time they announced a recruting drive someone on here reckoned it was all agency work.
