Commercial Kitchen has some big metal cabinets that are wired into flex outlets.

Owner want the outlets changed to sockets, so he can plug the unit in an make moving them easier

There is no RCD protection.

Will suggest RCD sockets, but if he declines on cost, is they a problem with adding normal sockets. I presume its OK.

Also...

Could they be an issue with putting a plug on an item that was hard wired in?

Hey matie need a little more info what are the cabinets? the flex outlet what is that? (current rating) or is it a fused spur

I would personally not change the outlets into sockets you will be changing the appliance from movable to portable, why can't you just extend the cable a little to allow the cabinet to be pulled out and cleaned would be the most cost effective way;)

IP rating is maintained when unplugged

you can get IP67 which has a seal on the cover too

(EDIT: this refers to the socket. the plug alone may not be the full IP rating)
