Morning all

Due to shortage of space and a 9 month old running riot in a small terrace house me and the missus are thinking of a conservatory to gain some extra living space, however as im not quite sure about whether to go for an easy option of full height glass or pay out for the whole dwarf wall thing, anyone heard or had any bad stuff about these two or conservatory's as whole? headbang

any feedback greatly appreciated!!! :Y

If your budget can stretch to it I would go for a solid extension every time. Conservatories too hot in the summer, too cold in the winter. You may find that the cost is not a lot greater if you can muck in and do a lot yourself.

As above.

If you can muck in your self, you would be able to get a major amount of an extension done yourself.

If ure good with ure hands it shouldnt be a problem, and again, the costs wont be as much as you think.

All depends.

but if you go for a conservatory, go for a dwarf wall.

thanks for the replies....yea i did think about going the whole hog with an extension but dunno if i can be bothered with the council lark.......... :_|

hmm might have to give it more consideration....

My be one of those 'grandma egg sucking moments' but you know about permitted developments not requiring planning permission if certain conditions are met?

There's a bit of info here, loads more if you google it.

(building regs still apply!)

i built one at mine last year. we done all the digging, new drains, foundations. got a someone i know to build the wall and someone else to build the sides/roof. and a plasterer.

didnt need planning permission either because of the size of garden compared to conservatory (or something like that)

thanks guys,,,,, don't fancy digging footings in the winter but may be the only way, suppose ive got to think about selling on value when i move.

Decent insulation and underfloor heating is essential, otherwise it will be useless throughout most of Autumn/ Spring/ winter - ours is.

:(
