i have a delonghi 6 gas rings and electric oven cooker i wired it into the main cooker socket earth to earth live to live neutral to neutral and nothing yet when i stick a 13 amp plug on it it works fine any ideas,

We`re going to need a bit more information than that, Claude.

What is written on the rating plate for the cooker? The electrical requirements should also be in the manual.

But, from what you`ve said, I`d look at either:

a) A faulty cooker switch.

B) Disconnected wiring somewhere between the cooker and the cooker switch.

KME

Was there a cooker previously connected to this cooker outlet? Or are you re-instating a connection that has not been used for some time? As KME suggest you will need to check the cooker isolator switch and the fuse or MCB at the fuse box.

Doc H.

As said above, the cooker supply is probably dead .

If cooker works from a plug top then it takes less than 13Amps (Mabye a 2KW fan assist) so you could leave it like that .

If it's a 6 (gas) hob cooker it's going to be a range cooker, so will be double oven and grill, and possibly an electric hot plate.

So sticking with a 13A plug is not a solution.

If you don't have any test equipment and testing knowledge, get an electrician in.

Could be MCB tripped, Fuse blown, faulty cooker switch or wiring fault.

An electrician should logically test it through and determine the problem quickly.

Post some pictures of the CCU, cooker switch, and your fuse box.

If your cooker switch also has a socket on it, does that socket work?
