Family relative is just having there kitchen rewired by the local authority along with some other building work. Went around just to have a look at what was being done in general and not specifically the electrics. The kitchen was nearly finished and tiling was done. The 2nd fixing left a lot to be desired. There was sockets not screwed back properly, sockets not straight and to cap it off one of the pendants was held to the ceiling by double sided tape. Some people take no pride in their work.

It may not be the fault of the electrical contractors but the decorators. I would assume the property to be inspected and a snag list produced to put things right.

Years ago my mother-in-laws council bungalow was rewired and it was a real messy job but in the kitchen directly behind the sink taps was a surface mounted light switch with trunking upto the ceiling.

Mother in law said she didn't know what it was for, I tried it and couldn't think either so took switch front off and found no wires:confused:

Pulled trunking off, no wires:confused:

Never did figure that one out:eek:

That's what happens when they pay a pittance for council re-wires

The only ones who will do it are the very desperate and the lash up monkeys who couldn't care less as they have to do 4 in a day to earn a normal day rate

What you you nneed to remember on these rewires

the sparkies get paid per job,,,so the team bang it in because they have a finish window.....

so they rush it,,,,, and move onto the next job

so they are on the next job earning

next, the job they left gets snagged and they get a list of stuff to go back to fix,,,,,which is ok but they dont get paid for it

one guy goes back does in a couple of hours jobs done !

its called playing the game.....

If electricians hadn't been so devalued over the years it would not be so sloppy
