I'm just wondering if its worth me doing it. I started an electrician course in September, and I want to get employed asap. Should I go for the CSCS card? I hear the exam is pretty easy to do, but what do people think?

Depends where you are going to work, most building sites expect it, but just doing domestic work wouldn't matter. The electrical CSCS is called the ECS, it is a pretty easy straight forward exam made up off about 40 multiple choice, or at least the one i did was you need 85% to pass.

Right now, i'm not sure where I want to work but the aim is domestic. Then again, I have an interview to become a CCTV engineer so in that instance, I think I may be best to have one. The recession has hit me and i'm out of work but the job centre are letting people on the rock and roll do it for free, but I don't know if its just the test itself or if its a learning programme and the exam is seperate. Surely I don't need to go on a training course before I do the exam!

Extinguishers i'm quite alright with, I think!

You can get all the questions and answers online, i'll find them and post link, hopefully.

if you can do it for free, go for it I would as stated multiple guess read up on it you shouldnt have a problem.

If going on CCTV stuff remember working at heights,so again worth it.

Only my thoughts.

Yeah, thanks mate. I agree. They are also doing free forklift truck training. I'm unemployed at the moment and its some kind of scheme to get people working again. I have signed up anyway, so hopefully it will get me a job asap.

I passed the test for the cscs card. I have just received my application form and there is a section where your employer has to fill it in. I don't have a job at the moment and never been employed in the construction industry so does this mean I can't have a card?
