Hi Guys,

i have the chaps contact details but he's away working. So I didn't want to bother him but I did call him yesterday he said hes got the basic items/materials on the van and I asked if he was registered and he said yes of course it's my job my living all work will be tested and certified at end of job and he said he as liability insurance. I purchased the materials because the price he quoted me was more than double I got them for as my Niece works for an electrical supplies locally with her company discount I hope this clears that side of things up and I paid the Vat on items purchased. But I thought this was a forum where you can ask Questions ? And receive answers one would think he'd committed a crime. But I also now have another 2 electricians coming to quote for the job later this weeK.

Hi CTJ4, now that sheds a different light on the situation. You can perhaps see how we assumed the worst from the information given.

I still am a bit confused as to why you need a new CU and not extending the existing ring to include the new sockets and to add fused spurs for the lighting.. What appliances are connected to this ring now? What appliances are you intending to add in the garage? Why do you need a 6 way CU?

Sorry for the extra questions, just want to be clear as to your requirements.

In all fairness I didn't have a clue how to explain electrics  ? I asked to have an extra CU put in because its a double garage fitted in there are 3 lights 3 double sockets,  plus it's feeding front and rear outdoor lighting and 4 double outdoor sockets and 7 garden lights thats all running from the garage the outdoor items are a good distance away from garage and I intend to have 10 more outdoor bulkhead lights fitted around garden plus there's allready 2  100 W LED floodlights. Running from garage a lot of these were already there when I moved in to house. I would like to have all these fed from my garage via a second CU, and I what I really wantes to know was I going right way about it

Hi Rob_the_rich,

What I was hoping to do was have the garage sockets and lights on seperate trips, from new CU and outside garage lighting front & rear on another trip, my garden outdoor sockets on another and the LED floods on another with some bulkheads and so on all in quite a few lights in big garden but all outdoor lighting will be low voltage LEDs. As it is the garden & outdoor garage lights are all run off garage lighting and the garden sockets from the garage ring all via Switched Spurs.

i apprciate your knloidge/experience with any advice, before I have the work done
