when doing a the above do you have to be there in the dead of night to do your live tests or is there a way of doing it from the other board?

I would only add that the older Horstman Time switches ( much used in this area) are electro-mechanical and if the U-No-OO fairy has been you can trip the timer for testing .

is it ok to use a double board for both? Or is there a regs saying separate boards?

Why nick the tails??

Just take a bit of 4mm from a 32A non RCD MCB

Take your Ze and PFC from the live board. Should be almost identical results most times anyway. But you are just proving the effectiveness of the earth.

It's not like you're testing with all the circuits energised,, just do one at a time!

Some makes of Economy 7 Radio time switch, will turn the E7 supply on for a couple of minutes as soon as you re insert the main fuse. Only when they have established the time, which takes a couple of minutes, will the E7 supply turn off again until it's supposed to come on.

Handy for testing.

Paul, if you mean a combined board , 24 Hr and E7 ...then yes they can be used.
