.... Anyone on here actually build customised Towers?

I am looking to purchase a new Computer tower. Need it to be fast, large storage etc. But I do NOT need it for computer games. (IE dvd games).

Is anyone interested in building one for me? Please PM me with an approximate cost (further info).

Many Thanks,

Admin.

It is not required for games Rev !!!!!!

'first one to the top' is not what he wants to play

Rev - You crack me up. :slap

Matt - Thanks, But I would rather pay someone from here to do one for me.

On a slightly serious note. You may find what you want ready built. From your post it looks like you need a fast processor Intel Core Duo or similar? (dual core better multitasking etc) You need plenty of RAM and a biggish HDD.

I just got a system for the church slightly used 3.0ghz processor and 2 video outputs incl 19" TFT, KB and mouse and Win XP preinstalled less than

could always check what a local computer shop has on offer?

failing that, building one isnt really hard. more just plug everything in. and if your using windows 7, very easy to install OS

Indeed, If you knew what you were doing, to start with.
i used to know computers very well (prob 10 years ago), but lost interest in the building/how it works side. but i know the basics. as sidewinder says though, its still easy (unless it doesnt work. then it could be a little awkward, but im sure you would get all the help you need from here). it really is just a case of buy the parts, put everything together, switch on and stick OS CD in drive and follow instructions. windows XP is fairly easy to install. windows 7 is very easy

I suppose its all down to what you want it for, I have a custom built "tower" which was designed to house water cooling. I have also used blade servers which are 19" rack mount affairs.

Most can now be bought off the shelf far cheaper than you can build it yourself.

Hello Manator,

I've missed you. :)

Back from you long vacation. :D

It's not worth building a PC nowadays unless you really need something out of the ordinary or customised for a particular application. That said there are some awfully specced prebuilt machines from the big names in the shops and online so you do need to make sure you're getting a good deal. Most of the performance gains from new machines are from the initial trimming of all the fat that is stuck on at the factory and in the software that is installed that makes it a little happier to run, like Foxit rather than Adobe etc...

I haven;t built a PC for years, it's really not worth it, I've supplied loads of prebuilt machines, the most I'll do nowadays is stick some extra memory in or an additional graphics card in for the most part.

I built one for the garage from a few rubbish(antique!) ones that folks donated to me, :D

so if I can do it anyone can.

but would agree that for a good home system it does seem just as cheap to shop around for a prebuilt unless you need something very specific.
