Hi all,

Recently my job has been under-threat as our current contract is at an end and a new employer is going to be taking over, making 62% of our workforce redundant.

Therefore I have been looking for work, but it seems most of the jobs around our area are looking for designers.

I've been looking into the C & G 2396 (2391-20): Design & Verifiction Course, and was wondering if any of you have completed this course and could give me some advice.

1. I would like to know if you think this course is worth spending out for, as it is quite expensive and times are tough?

2. I would like to know if any of you could recommend any books that are up-to date.

3. Any other advice etc.. Is much appreciated.

Thanks

Naq

The idea of the course is to teach the BASICS of design and verification - any employer taking on someone without relevant EXPERIENCE is leaving themselves wide open in court.

The course is relatively easy if you now how to design and are conversant with experience of installs etc, if you don't it can be quite daunting
I've had experience with loads of installs and have had plenty of experience with our designers plans. I've also helped with some small design projects, but never done any big ones.

The jobs I'm currently looking at are Street Lighting, which on a whole are never that complicated.

As usual I would really like to brush up and learn what I can at home before taking on a course.

I understand that people want experience, but everyone has to start somewhere. Without going for these sort of jobs, I unfortunately won't get the experience.

Does anyone have any past-papers or know of where I can get practice papers?

Any other help or guidance for designing?
