Hi All

I have got to quote for a distribution circuit to a garage Cu.

My Question is if you bury the cables in the wall how can you provide the 30mA protection required for that cable and still achieve discretion because the garage board will also have a 30mA RCD.

Do you just provide the 30mA protection from the board in the house and have a main switch Cu in the garage?

Hope this makes sense i've had a long day! :coffee

Many Thanks

Personally I only use 1 30mA rcd per circuit. Its ok if all the test results are acceptable.

either use rcd in the house or use swa or some other method that does not require rcd the fit an rcd in garage

Use SWA this is mechanical protection. If it is on a TT system you will have to supply the cable through an s type 100mA RCD first to get discretion. If you used the main boards 30mA RCD in the house you would not need the 100mA RCD or garage RCD but to have an RCD in the garage is better.

Discrimination for RCD's can only be satisfied with a time delayed RCD not a larger one.

Thanks for all your replys. Dont know where discretion came from? :Blushing
