Do You Require RCD in RCBO populated CU

Hello, need help , just finished doing and extension, had to do wiring and after finishing the work, I was told that when a new wiring , the lighting , ring main and the cooker circuit, you need and RCD protection, even if the circuits are protected by RCBOs.

Need help do I need RCD protection even all the circuits have RCBOs.

New wiring will require an electrical certificate, if it is not you testing & issuing the certificate then its probably best to get in touch with the person who is signing the certificate to say it is compliant with current regulations, as it will be their name on the document.

I used to be electrician but been out of the game for a while, but been keeping up with the regs but , I was told by the person who is giving the certificate that the circuits have to to be protected by RCD, as I know if you are using RCBOs , you do not need to use RCD , as RCBO does the job.

But the guy who is going to give the certificate wants RCD to protect the RCBOs circuits.

I would suggest he is incompetent and needs reporting to whatever scheme he claims to be a member of as he clearly doesn't understand jack ****e!

The person who was going to,issue the Cert is an incompetent idiot who should have his MFT ( if he has one) shoved up,his flu and switched to 1000V Ins Test

i advise reporting him to,his CPS as a first step

this work,is quite possibly notifiable to Building Control

i believe there was a system by which a third party could verify and 'sign off' work but I don't know if it ever took off/is still going. But it is certainly not an NICEIC SCheme. Someone will be along shortly with the correct details

Maybe the op needs to talk to his BCO .

Ultimately if he wants a completion certificate, the BCO hold the cards

BCO are extremely unlikely to be checking the electrics .... you need to ask them what they will want to see regarding the electrics etc

Be prepared for a world of pain

as far as I know the Installation Cert can only be signed by the person who,did the work

EICR is a different matter BUT most BCOs won't entertain it

but what do,I know. See wife for further details
