Hi I have a client that has 6 down lights in her bathroom with a single gang one way switch installed so when switch all six lights come on. (Lights wired using a single jb as a 3 plate and all the lights are daisy chained off as usual).

My client wants the light switch changed to a double gang so at night when someone wants just to use the loo only one of the six lights come on. Then when normal bathroom use is needed the other switch is pushed and all six lights come on.

I have moved from the automotive side to domestic electrical. In a car I could use a diode to achieve this set up.

Please help. Client really doesn't want one switch operating 5 lights and one switch operating one light.

1 switch switches 1 light on, other switches 5 lights + 6th via a relay.

You can do it with a pair of two way switches and a bit of unconventional strapping....

If someone wants to check my logic out...

but basically if switch 1 is on A & B will be on

if switch 1 is off then switch 2 can only turn on light A

so wire 5x lamps to B position & 1 lamp to A position.

it will work,

as long as you have the switches in the correct combination,

simpler to simply use a 2gang with a one way and a DP on it.
