Hi,

My dads got a blocked drain which goes under the extension and has tried everything to try to sort it so it looks like it may have broken or collapsed.

Do any of you guys know best place to get a camera which is for drains so we can see whats going on.

I know dyno-rod do it but dont fancy having our pockets hoovered lol.

Thanks in advanceGuinness

have you tried rodding it yourself? open up all available drains and throw some water down, see which one is the slowest for it to pass through, then give that one a good rodding so to speak.

Should be able to borrow or hire some rods? Failng that, local plumbing/drainage companies may do it cheaper than dyno rod

We had the same problem a few years back

firstly find which way the drain runs ,,,it could be blocked further down where other people have built over the access and dont know they are flooding

go to neighbour and rod it back up to yours ????

could be pitched fibre that has colapsed because of the movement of the extension

you could talk to your insurance people and see if your covered or just get a local guy in that has a camera etc

jet blasting may show the problem aswell.

this happened to us,,,,,,,next doors conservatory had crushed the pitched fibre pipes,,,,cowboy builders

she lost her floor and we had our garden dug up !!!!!!!!

Thanks for the replies guys. Tried rodding it, tried pressure washing, tried acid stuff etc. Its not on the main drain its from the kitchen extension to the main drain. Hes flushed the bog and checked the manhole cover next door but one and its fine so not the main drainage. Its from the drain outside on patio to main drain which is under the kitchen laminate floor haha. So camera is our last option before smashing up the newly laid laminate flooring. Cheers

1st off try your insurance company,,, you never know you may have cover!

2nd... I heard something today about the water board taking on responsibility for all drains even on customers property!

I dont really see the issue here, you say you know its the drain under the extension, so the floor will have to come up to fix it anyway,

unless its just a paper blockage of sorts, and a good rodding would sort that,

try rodding it, if that fails then its a collapse and the floor has to come up to fix it anyways.

I read that doesn't come into force until October

M4tty,

Have you actually tried phoning Dyno Rod for a quote? or are you assuming/going on hearsay with regard to their price?

^^ are you a forum sponsor mate?
Nope, and I have changed the username to a more apt one, before banning them. ]:)
