Just got a new iphone and looking through apps to make life easier. Found Dropbox, anyone use it? Is it really that good? and completely free? All I want to share with my phone and a another computer is a couple of hundred pdfs (quotes, invoices ect) would this be ideal? cheers :put the kettle on

Stick to what i know mate, the iphone lasted me before better than any other phone, had a blackberry last year and was terrible, i didnt fancy having to learn how to use a samsung could just pick up a iphone and carry on from where i left off.

I use dropbox and have no issues. 2gb limit, but I don't use that much anyway. You can share folders with other (specified) dropbox users or just keep it all to yourself. Plus I think if you sign up from a recommendation you both a little mor space.

If your going to sign up, send me your email address and I'll send you a referal.

When its said its not secure does it really matter with a few quotes and invoices on there? is that what hackers are after?

2gb limit is not probs just a few pdfs so nowhere near that I should imagine. Just thinking or a easy way to keep quotes and invoices on the phone. How does the folders sync? Im looking to sync my sliq tools folder to my iphone from a windows PC.

For my PDF's i just drop them into my iphone on itunes, and veiw with ibook app. all free. I think you can select a folder for itunes to sync although im not a fan of itunes having too much control and syncing things it thinks it knows best.

I also have mobile ME account (the Email address and online storage facility([email protected])) Its now called icloud, i have not swapped mine over yet(as i still get a larger 2*gig storage, ideal to upload TV shows & film for my dad to download in Spain). Its now free i think, for lion and latest iphone OS users, with less storage space,( i did pay for mine). I store important PDFs i dont want to lose online in my documents folder. I can then view them from my iphone with the idisk app (can also access icloud idisk from any computer with tinternet connection). I think there is a facility to sync your idisk with computer, i have not needed to do so.

Do you have to pay for drop box?

Its just as secure as the next thing. You need user and password to access files unless you specify that the files are public.

syncing - basically, you install dropboz on your pc and nominate a folder on hard drive. Then anything you put in that folder is automatically sync'd to your dropbox account. Again you install app on phone and enter credentials. It then allows you to browse the files. Really easy to do.

I used to study IT (i know you wont believe that) I did a module on the data protection act alot is impractical even the tutor agreed it meant network admin would infringe on it. What level of protection would be needed if so? all very confusing.

Out of interest what do you use noz? and how much does it cost?

Thoroughly recommend Dropbox - 2Gb not a problem for storing years of test results and quotes

However I remember buying a 16k RAM extension for the ZX81 - and was told it was more memory than I would ever need - and what was wrong with cassette tape storage anyway!

I use my iPad for a lot of my work stuff, the docs sync with iCloud :brian

My neighbour (an IT fixit fella) has offered me unlimited online backup through an iPad app or UCP on a PC or Mac,,, IIRC he retails it at
