Fellow Finger flickers......

Old Laptop died at Xmas last year. I now find that I need to get an e mail off it [whoops]

The SATA drive is ok. I have put said SATA into a SATA docking unit. connect to PC.

Everything looks ok, however the problem is, where do I find the old emails and how can I open it?

New machine uses Thunderbird and Firefox. Old unit used IE and Outlook

I have searched using known keywords, to no avail.

Anybody got any useful helpful tips pleas????

Many thanks

Was it outlook or outlook express you were using on the crashed system ?
To be honest I cannot actually remember, but I seem to think that it was not the standard default prog that came with Windows , but rather the more advanced variant; if that is of any help.

The problem I have is that about 12 months ago I priced a job for a client that I sub for. Job has raised its head again BUT my client has lost all their paperwork, however they sent me a full set of specs etc via email and it is this file I need to find so that I can adjust my price and so that they don't look stupid in the eyes of their client. Bit of a face saving excercise as well; so all help gratefully received, as always... :coat

Where a bouts are you ?Did you do the price in outlook then ?

Or word or ? And send as an attachment?

Was it definately a Microsoft email program ? Or thunderbird or lotus ?
I am oooop north near that holiday town with 3 piers, A pleasure beach and a big towwer

I thought I had created the file in word and then attached same to an e mail, but cannot find it on word so must have [unusually for me] done it as a direct e-mail

Def a Microsoft Prog as at that time I had never heard of 'the others'.

The larger part of the problem is that I need to 'find' the spec that my client sent me. It has all the points marked up on it and I appended my notes to it regarding which areas needed a cherry picker, which bit needed a scissor lift.

Also has a consultants report and pics on it. I must still be there somewhere as I never delete anything.

Would it make it any easier if I got hold of a comp with outlook +/or express on it and connected SATA to this? or am I talking bo11ox [ I have a Masters in talking Bo11ox, 1st Class and Bar!!!]

Select all the files on the disk and turn off the hidden & read only.

From there do another search for *.pst files, then you should be able to copy these off and access them on another pc, unless you can find the files, having outlook will be no use.

If it is the express version then you may have other issues due to the way the files are stored.
