I can not see a DNO cut out, I can only assume that the extreme left connections is a split line and neutral, looks like someone has decided to connect an earth to the neutral? I would have thought it was a TT supply that has been altered?

I thought the cut out was half way up on the left, next to the neutral connection

One word = MESS
Steve is right, at the moment it does look a mess. I do hope you will heed the advise given on this forum and put things right.

None of that stuff should even be in the outside box, and everything is or looks like its just been thrown in. I would be interested in any test results for Ze for instance.

hope you can see this pic

i have a mate to confirm all the electrics are ok and will get a p cert he is self employed and has all the paper as well as nic registered but i was hoping to do the bulk of the work to save on cost before getting him in to test and then say hes got x hours of work to do

as you can see from the pic ihave not connected the earth cable and poss will not just leave to him but for my own piece of ming i like to confirm waht needs doing before getting jobs done

can i say thanks for any help given angel
If your mate is going to be signing off your work for you, (which he shouldn't as by your own admission he is self employed and you are not his employee), Then it would be prudent to ask him exactly how he wants the work done if he is going to be signing the work. I am a bit confused as on the one hand you talk about saving money, but on the other hand, you appear to have installed a lot of unnecessary bonding wires and clamps? It really would be wise to get the person who is signing your work to verify exactly how they want it done rather than asking on a forum. As to be honest, it looks a bit messy and I am not sure many of our members would be happy to sign for any of that.

I'm just wondering what the conduit is or isn't feeding? I can't see anything going into the grey adaptable?

When did the rules change for use of meter cabinet for consumer install?

I also thought that the metering side of things would have e the 'L' & 'N' labels on them, as bad as the meter monkeys are they usually leave their tails tidier than that, has somebody been moving it all around?

I like the idea of the protective earth shield provided by the wrap round earth!!

I'd also be inclined to say that this is a 'converted' TT, the question is by who?

As others have said, messy and in need of a qualified electricians eyes first hand, not virtual.

the top box was installed where the original box was replacing a very old board with fuse wire the bottem box was installed by me but tested and conected my meb 12- 14 years ago i installed a shower and paid meb to test and connect i installed the tails you see coming out the top of the lower box (with the intent that they would tidy up when conection are made) but when they conected them i was at work and come back to see the guy just put in all of the junction boxes and did not cut the cable shorter to make it look tidy

the conduit can be removed easily at it fed a pond and the black box is a low volt transformer for out side lights again easly removed

the earth cable wrapped around it the new bonding cable if this helps

and the main cables have never been changed to my time in this house

thanks for all the info and any help

I might be wrong but is your line/neutral from the meter the correct way round?

Went to a house last week to find the L/N reversed in the CU

From what I can see, you have quite a mess of a TN-C-S supply there, you need to sort out what is what so you can define what the requirements of earthing & bonding are wrt the incoming supply.

will cheak on this but would say is poss fine as had not funny readings when doing testing with mutimeter through the house

I agreed with ya to start with but when I looked closely I'd say that the neutral is going to one of the middle terminals on the meter, (left, connection 2)

as i have said all the bits at the bottem i am going to remove to make it look tidy at the bottem but need a bit of help on the bonding what details do you need pics i can provide

thanks angel

Ok, so it looks like you've done a bit of un-necessary supplementary bonding around your boiler but you haven't shown us what else you've done.

Have you installed any equipotential bonding to the incoming extraneous services (eg. Gas & water)?

As several members have pointed out, we would need for you to establish what supply characteristics you have, as it is a job for one of us to make that call. I would if I were you, ask your mate to establish this for you, it is not something that a DIYer would necessarily know nor understand. As Sidey has pointed out there are different requirements for each.

the other connection i have done is the gas pipe at the main gas meter on my side and run this to the out side fuse box this is the cable that runs around the box and is not connected at the moment

see pic http://i510.photobuc...lf/DSCN1036.jpg

see the earth bonding cable that comes in to the box from the bottom in to the box and is just left in a loop in the box at the moment if this it connected this will complete the bonding binding all all of the pipework to earth as i am using the gas pipe to take the earth connection to the boiler and then doing the bonding to all other pipes in the house as this boiler has cold feed the hot feed and all rad feed so should earth all pipe work in the house i know all pipe work in the house and there is no plastic push fit fitting to stop the bonding as i have done all the work on the rads and hot and cold feeds
