Hi all,

I need to run some 4 core swa into, and out of, a plastic enclosure. Normally, i would fit both glands with an earth nut and link them with some cable the same size as the phase conductors.

Big problem is, i have only got one earth nut, and i need to do it tomorrow...

How did you manage before these things were invented...

Hi Paul,

That would work well! What i think i might do though, as it is in a position where it cannot be seen really, is, as both cables enter from the underneath, parallel, and right next to each other, is use a pair of them earth shackle things, trapped between two nuts as you say and link them with a suitable cable.

I tried all the usual places today, no-body got any...Can only think nobody here uses plastic enclosures, or if they do, they do not care how they do things!!!!

Do it inside the enclosure though if it is outside.

Don't join earthing conductors external to the enclosure "outdoors" unless you really "HAVE" to.

If the cables enter close you can sometimes bolt them together directly.

Remember if you use a jumper wire to ensure it is big enough.

If you need further detail I was going to say ring me, but that's an issue!

Don't know how else I can help!

Have things to do and food to have so won't be on here all night!

;)

Same here App, I have 20, 25, 32 & 40's on the van if you are stuck, & I'm working in the a.m. so you can come & collect them from me if you need to.

Hi there!!

Thanks both!!! i have to meet them at 8 in the morning so they can let me in..

I will do a temporary job with the shackles and some cable and then re-do it again. It is only a 20A rotary isolator. Judging by the space they leave you to work in these things you would think plastic is expensive!!
