Earth rod location

Hi all

I have been asked to do a rewire and there is no main earth terminal so i am going to install an earth rod and just wanted to know if there was any rules regarding distance from consumer unit or location

No but shorter the better less 16mm.

The important points are keeping it accessible for inspection and testing.

and if it is in an obscure place then make sure there is a clear label at the CU to identify its location.

Basically put it where you can dig a suitable inspection pit cover

and run the earth wire where it is least likely to get damaged.

and is meets your max Ra value

and the customer is happy with.

i.e. the key reg 134.1.1

Good workmanship & Proper materials etc..
