Anyone done this before ?????

the floor has a void beneath it,,,,,,,,,,can you get rods longer tha 1.5m ??

i have done it before for a temp supply and got good readings

thoughts ????

most rods i fit are in the house under the floor. rarely fit them outside

dont think you can get longer than 1mtr, any longer and you would need extendable rods

I only ever use screw together rods,

I suppose you could go to your local copper rod maker and specify a big one ;)

EDIT,

remember, if its below a normal floor you must leave access to inspect it.

easiest way is to make a little trap and simply put a note on the cert and sticky beside the CU,

and pray the householder doesnt decide to tile the hall floor just where you have made your nice new trap at. headbang

On the rare occasions I do domestic, or surgeries converted from old Victorian houses I have installed earth rods inside. The last one I did was at the end of last year in a town called Leek, the practice had a cellar and I installed the rod there and had a very good stable reading well below 100.

If your worried about the length for bridging the gap between the soil and cavity to floorboard level, then get the screw type rods so you can bang one rod in and bridge the gap with another screwed onto this.

Most archetects I work with specify these, the inspection pits are great as well.

no problems with inspection

it right below the cu which is in a cupboard low down

do you start hammering those in from the bedroom window?
