My E7 meter has the off peak set at midnight to 0100 then 0200 to 0800. I thought you got 7 hours continuous cheap rate.

Is the E7 meter and old mechanical clockwork type device, or is it some sort of modern unit? Just guessing but could this be to ensure any auto synchronising during BST/GMT changeovers don't either add or reduce the amount of E7 you get. (i.e.  In the UK the clocks go forward 1 hour at 1am on the last Sunday in March, and back 1 hour at 2am on the last Sunday in October.).

As said , you're getting your E7 hours  .  Not sure what the reason for the 1 hour gap is  to be honest .  

Don't forget to get yourself some time switches  and run the washing  m/c or drier on E7.

I once  saw a block of 9 flats where all the clocks were set for on  from 7 am to midnight. Nobody was complaining

My first house had E7 on a clockwork timer. The timer had two "on" paddles and two "off" paddles. It developed a fault where the first off paddle did not switch it off, and the second one was set to about 4PM. So I had E7 rate from about midnight to 4PM.  I twice reported the fault and they twice came and failed to fix it. After that I just "put up with" the fault.

The problem I have is at 0100 do my 3 storage heaters & immersion heater go on full rate for an hour.

Doc Hudson, It's a modern meter operated by a radio signal & the changeover between tariffs  is spot on time wise.

Thanks Evans Electric, I have plug in timers in use, It's just the first house where I have been all electric so I'm still getting used to it.

If it's a radio time switch I am surprised it is doing this.  If it's really modern, the meters they fit now have the radio switch built into the meter so all one small neat unit. It's at least 5 years since they fitted separate meters and radio switches.
