Hello!

I'm a complete novice when it comes to anything electrically, therefore was hoping for some help!

I've got an electric wall mounted radiator (dimplex?) which is not producing any heat. The power is OK and when switched on the digital display comes up, but the red light on the side is not lit.

We moved in to the flat after it had been empty for 5 months and the first few times it was switched on there was a dust (?) burning smell, but that disappeared after a few weeks...but now nothing!

Any help would be gratefully received

Many thanks in advance

James

99% chance the element has gone. Easy job to swap over, takes 15 minutes. Bit of PTFE tape on the threads, obviously isolate electrics first.

If you change the water then put some central heating protector in. There is usually an air bleed you will need to open first time it gets up to temperature.

I doubt it's a "wet" radiator.

By the sounds of the "burning dust" smell, it's an ordinary panel convector heater.

Same applies it could be the element, or switch, or thermostat even.

Post a picture and the model number of the heater.

Many thanks for your replies so far.

The flat is owned and i would assume it is a panel convector heater...but doesn't have any branding on it whatsoever?!

Is it wise to remove the front panel and and see if the element is burnt out?

It looks similar to the heater below?

That attachment doesn`t work.

Unbranded flat panel heater - If you are comfortable with isolating the supply & opening it up, do so, and take some photos.

If you aren`t - tell us where you are; someone on here may well look at it for you?

Many thanks for your advice so far. Please note i'm based in SE13.

I opened it up last night & there was no sign of 'burned' wires/fuses etc...so, the main fuse is working, the digital display is working, just circuit board looks normal but it's not producing any heat?! I do have another radiator in the hallway which is the same, could i just switch the circuit boards over?!

If not i will take some pictures and see if that sheds anymore light on the situation!

Without taking a few test readings with a meter I would be reluctant to swap anything over....

What if a knacked component in the duff radiator has also taken out the circuit board...

Swapping the PCB's could mean you then have two knackerd PCB's and NO working heaters!!!!
