I have never attended a course on emergency lighting as it was covered when I did my training, however what I do is work to the advise and instructions given for emergency lighting design. I read the regulation books in the same manner has my wife reads some love story like Wuthering heights. Yeah she bores me too.

Hi I am doing the fia emergency lighting course next week from what I have found the fia is the best company to deal with and their course is the only one properly approved, I will let you know how I get on there is one in the south and one on the north of England

Also I have started using a lighting design program called dialux which is free to download but is bloody good once you learn how to use it and will give you professional print outs of all your emergency lighting design and lux levels, spacings and photo metric data for certification

Hope this helps

Welchyboy that sounds great let me no how you get on and the details of the course and price when you can please ,thanks again:worship

Just google FIA emergency lighting course and youll find it, they do plenty of locations, the cost is around

Yes please do, some of our members will be very interested in what your comments are after taking the course. Remember we have a personal review section, this is not just for tools etc, it can be for courses like the one your about to embark on.
No problem will do

Circle of trust,

For your information, I recently completed this course and must say I was very impressed, the course was very thourough and left no stone unturned, was maybe a little intense for one day

The tutor was good, very knowledgable and answered all of my queries and areas I was a little unsure on

You get a very comprehensive pack with the course which has pictures and diagrams to explain things

The course is split into 4 sections with a test at the end of each, lunch is a buffet with free tea and coffee all day

At the end of the day you get the layout drawings for a large hotel and then have to design a scheme to the plans

All in all I feel this course was really good and would strongly recommend it to anyone who is involved with EL

But has grey areas in their knowledge

I actually feel confident in designing, inspecting, maintaining and advising customers on this subject, covering most reasonable everyday situations

To be honest If I had potential work in the future with fire alarms I would also consider doing these courses too
