I had heard that you were negotiating the purchase of a second hand Malaysian Boeing 777 that you were going to strip down for spares to get the van running again...

:innocent

When are you getting the "forum spark of the year" logo sign written across the bonnet. I thought you would have had it done by now?

Doc H.

decent enough looking van Deke,

Andy, I would have a small van like that if it wasnt for the fact I go to most of my jobs  'blind' ,

a lot of the time I dont even know if I need a set of ladders or not.

1700   Diesel Ducky    bit Spartan but it'll do.  I don't need big vans these days .     I've had Fords for years so I found the gearbox a bit sticky TBH .  After searching Yam Yam country the other day for vans :(   , this was on Gumtree  and in the next road to me .

Did a stupid thing though , drove it away , fuel warning  flashing like mad , so went round the corner , half a tank of diesel in ,  wouldn't start .

Then I thought I'm sure its diesel, which it is , still wouldn't start.   Phoned my mate, ex Vauxhall dealer forman.  He comes round , I'm still at the pumps ,  " Which key did you use "?      "This flat one "    Takes the keys and starts the engine ,  must use the one with the transponder in it.

The other key is .........a phrase I'd not heard before ..... a valet key ..opens the vehicle but won't start the engine . :C

They are complicated vans I couldn't get in passenger side until I realised you have to push key fob twice. Took a couple of weeks to work that one out.

1700 di? Had one before the 1.3 cdti, indeed spartan but quicker than the current one also the engine is an izuzu one and pretty bullet proof!

Look out for leaks in the footwells these can be fixed with silicone around the wiper arm holes or round the master cylinder also keep an eye out for lights with a mind of their own.

:)

I got my combo back on Friday. No new parts, but the ecu had to be reset and reprogrammed. Everytime I think its dead it carries on.

Quite Steps!

Hence the Transit Jumbo!

Tomorrow, changing plugs on servo motor cables, don't even know if they are ground level, or elsewhere, never even seen the machine or been in the factory yet!!!

how on earth did you get in the back? lol

Also worth noting the locks are pretty easy to bypass with a screwdriver so its worth investing in some external locks if you work in less salubrious areas.

Back has a proper lock, no side doors as its a box van. Getting in the bonnet is also a challenge until you know how to do it.

probably the same engine as my astra. rarely have any problem with it, it plenty power (although an astra is a little smaller)

the flay key doesnt have a chip in it for immobiliser. it wont start the car, but you can hold the other ley next to barrel and start it then it will run. once its started it shouldnt cut out though
