Any of you guys experienced this procedure (Throat or Rear)?? :( :_|
Had a endoscopy about 14 years ago to have a look in my stomach via mouth/throat, sorry to say that you are semi-consious when they first insert it as you have to swallow at the same time as it goes in.

Next thing I knew I was in the recovery room, throat was sore for day after.

I had it about two years ago but only down the throat, turns out I had a hernia which has now been fixed.

I got the choice whether to just have a local anastetic or sedative, I chose not to have the sedative because I didn't have anyone to pick me up from the hospital and you can't drive afterwards.

Go for the sedative if you can, the procedure doesn't hurt but you feel like you are choking (even though you're not) which is a bit scary.

Depends on the problem it does inflate you a bit.Dont worry over it as it doesnt take long.

Good morning.. :D (Too tired last night)

Well the Gastric endoscopy wasn't that bad, a spray down the throat (amazing stuff that), to numb it, mild sedation via the arm applied..

(But you do have to swallow the tube, which isn't that bad)

Not a problem all over in 8 minutes, he found a peptic ulcer by the way.

Colonoscopy, was not such a nice experience, the camera has to be engineered round the large intestine, I could feel the thing across my stomach, this was rather uncomfortable (if not painful at times, despite the sedation). Anyway all was well here:p

:B- )

I am glad that things have turned out ok and now things can be treated. Hope it won't be long before you are feeling better.

My daughter had pains in her hands when she was at school went to doctors and hospital but they could not find anything. Thinking she was making it up I think. Anyway she saw a specialist and it turns out she had carpel tunnel had the operations and is fine now.

Back later, guys.. :x
Glad it all went well extenso, I guess a peptic ulcer is no fun but treateable at least, hope it put your mind at rest.

Funnily enough a mate of mine from work had the "down the throat" procedure the other day and elected to not have sedation (against my advice), his only complaint was the taste of burnt fish that the spray left. eowww!
