Politicians these days won't make promises, nor will they say too much in case they "upset" voters ............ talk about wishy washy clap trap every time they speak .............

And who fought to make it this way? Why the politicians themselves! We can't call a black person coloured, it's offensive apparently, we have to be aware of the 'protected status' given to 'travellers' even though we all know the only time they travel is either to nick something, or because the place they're at they've made into a total s"*thole!
Now as well as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, we have Pansexual, which if you look it up in the dictionary means someone who doesn't have a preference for either male or females, in other words swings both ways, isn't that the same as BiSexual?
The country is in a mess because of this thing about being nice to everyone, not wanting to upset everyone and being scared of what everyone thinks. We have the idiots who firmly believe that paedophiles are ill, and can be cured! we have those who believe that all drug addicts do it because of some horrible event in their lives when they were young, hells teeth, we even have people now who'll be offended on your behalf, what is the world coming to? If you upset me, believe me you WILL know about it, I don't need anyone sticking their oar in, "oh, you shouldn't say that, he might get upset". Whoopee do, as I said, if I am upset then you'll soon know about it.
It's about time we stopped all this pathetic carp where so much time is spent pussyfooting around worrying about who'll be offended that nothing actually gets done.

Amen to that brother, and it was dealt with without weapons, how many times have we had a go with someone outside the pub, then shook hands and gone back in and bought the loser a pint.
Think it has far more to do with the 'press' mis-reporting everything they can to sell news papers rather than promoting actual discussion of the wrongs of rights of what has been said. Reagan was master of it (or his speech wrirter was) all his speeches are along the lines of 'mothers apple pie, do the right thing and god bless America' he never actaully says anything, just hints at what people want to hear.

I grew up in a very leafy Surrey village ......... there was 1 "black" boy at school ............ nobody commented on him in anyway ........... whereas the fat boy got the micky taken out of him all the time
How times change
No idea about Lammy, but I increasingly getting fed up with black whinging - they play the race card all too freely and far too often. There kids have been to schools that get far mre money per head than my sons school did, yet they seem to fail to take advantage of what is on offer, unlike other minority groups who seem to study hard and reap the benefits that offers.

Yeah, and if you keep your eye on knife crime statistics most of the crime is committed by blacks, there was a programme on tv the other night about stabbings, one gang of blacks were going at it hell for leather in a shopping mall, knives, machete's, it was disgusting. It may sound racist, I don't really care to be honest, but when you see how a lot of these people behave then there has to be something in the theory from years ago that these people are savages and cannot integrate into a peaceful society, and as for being allowed mixed marriages, well, they should be made illegal too. Us older ones will remember the original blacks coming over from Trinidad, Jamaica, etc, they spoke with a certain accent, in Jamaica I believe the term is 'patois' , its that sort of strange accent/language they use.
Now fine, they spoke like that because of where they came from, it's a bit like you or I going and living in another country, fair enough we would have a Yorkshire, or Scottish, or Cockney accent, or whatever the accent is where we came from, but if we had kids born over in the new country then you wouldn't expect them to talk like Cockney's would you?
All this rubbish about remembering where we come from is a load of carp, I know people who live abroad, yes they remember things about the UK and they talk about them, but they don't make a thing about the accent. If it's so good in Jamaica, or Trinidad or wherever they originate from then why don't they sod off back there!
I heard a comment 2 weeks ago on the media saying " No more white celebrities should be going out to the poor areas in Africa"
I think when these people do this kind of stuff , its with the best intentions . No one is going to listen to Brian McNomates trying to raise awareness .
I noticed a change in attitudes over the years . I remember the original black people coming here and obviously spoke in original "patois " and as older people they still do .
Their children however , when I was at school , spoke with Brummie accents with a very slight hint how their parents spoke . Not any more though , they all seem to speak with an affected type of speech ...." You know wha.. ha mean like ? You wiv me man ? "
And slowly but surely they were fitting in , there wasn't a huge culture gap . But I think they started to believe in the propaganda that was being spread , specially in this area . slavery , how hard done by we are , then forming their own gangs , waving machettes about and now guns & knives and generally killing each other , imagining they are on the streets of Harlem . Seems to be a lot of anger and hatred within them that wasn't there in the 1960's .
These days I find that black people in their 50s, 60, & 70s are fine , I have some good neighbours like that , but the few younger black people in my road say, generally ignore their white neighbours including myself .

This is it, you can go out and have a decent chat and a laugh with a lot of the older ones, say in their 40's or older, but as you say the younger ones are becoming more insular and don't want to associate with the whites. Well, if that is the case that they only want to hang out with other blacks, then let them move to an all black country it's as simple as that.
There's a palpable feeling of hostility in the air at the moment and I don't think it will take much for the powderkeg to explode. If you think about it, there's a lot of unrest about the austerity measures, plus there's a lot of ill feeling about the way the Brexit thing is being handled and other things as well. If it does kick off, and I honestly believe it will, then it will make the poll tax riots look like a kids party, it's a dangerous world we're living in, and it's getting more dangerous by the day.
Black kids are also mostly the victims - failure to deal with drug crime, and removing Policemen amd youth services has a lot to do with it, but there also seems to be an 'alternative culture' that means they no longer seem to want to integrate into society. I think it is also true the black community has suffered a lot of discrimintaion, BUT they also seem to have a culture of absent fathers ( I could be talking ****e about that, there's hardly any black people where I live).so lack good role models for their own youth.
I would totally disagree with your comment about being savages, you couldn't ever describe Tevor McDonald as that! I suppose the drug /crime culture is more attractive, essier than studying , and probably pays more money. I think you can expect to see more of that across all youth groups?

The way is see it is simple. Back in the 70’s I grew up with black kids, had the racial banter both ways but overall it was all in jest, everybody all got on with each other, suddenly there’s a rising of the liberal squad that believes its wrong to treat others that way and suddenly the whole racial issue was taken to an all new level because it was now believed to be wrong, now the blacks had something more to grab hold off and throw back at us and they have done since, They now have such a chip on the shoulder that it appears we are the wrong ones if we so much as say that there is less equality now than there was back then.
We need a complete reality check in society now if we are not to go back to the old days of riots.
It matters not what or where you come from it’s about accepting and respecting each other for who we are and if you can’t then stay away. This doesn’t in anyway give an excuse for bad behaviour. Bad behaviour is bad behaviour no matter who you are and we should never accept unacceptable behaviour as the moment we do we make it acceptable.

I have often wondered if Thatchers' look after yourself, be selfish and grab money 'little capitalist' ideaology has a lot to do with the lack of simple respect for other human beings? But I totally agree it's all about respect, simple courtesy, not ripping customers off, not dropping litter in the streets or cutting up other car drivers to get 1 space ahead in the queue. Perhaps the demise of religeon is partly in there as the church did teach a lot of basic morals? Either way society has changed a lot, and it seems not for the better. Fortunately there are still plenty of decent people of all ages around, but the press doesn't report that so the impression is constant doom and gloom.

The problem with the black community as I see it, is they are their own worst enemy, for years back in the bad old days we had the authorities giving them grief, I remember in Liverpool, any black person walking along the street was fair game for a stop. The trouble is that most black youths today are too stupid to see how things are, if they stopped trying to play at New York gangsters, dealing drugs and fighting with guns and knives, and actually knuckled down and got a decent education then perhaps then, not only would they have a better lifestyle, but they'd also have a bit of respect.
I'm sick of hearing black kids saying how nobody respects them unless they carry a gun or a knife, well sorry, but there are plenty of people who respect me and I don't carry a gun or a knife, well except my pocket knife that I use for working. They respect me because I work for a living, I help other people, and more importantly I respect other people, respect isn't given, it has to be earned. How can you respect anyone who's idea of earning a living is going dealing drugs, or mugging people, and who's idea of a hard day is sitting on their backsides smoking dope, you can't.
The trouble is they are using the race card to get where they want to be rather than actually working for what they want. A certain police force, near me, has a policy at the moment of actively recruiting from the black and ethnic minority groups, recently a young copper applied for a promotion, he was suitably qualified, had the right experience and knew the job. However he did not get the promotion, it was given in the words of the report to, 'someone who more suitably matched our recruitment requirements', in other words, a bloody ethnic who only got the job because of their skin colour, and that is happening all over this stinking country, and it's wrong. Back in the day it was the best person for the job, the one with the right experience, the right qualifications, the right attitude, if you had these then you had the job, now it isn't so, if the poorly qualified ethnic, with no actual experience doesn't find himself successful in his application to become general manager, then he gives it the old discrimination thing, people are so frightened of upsetting them these days that I reckon a dog could become an engineering manager, chief inspector or whatever, providing it could prove it came from an ethnic minority background.
