Im wishing to put some of what I am learning into practice , nothing to fancy just an exterior Bulkhead style light.

The propsal is ..........................

Light on wall about 5ft opersite door, 20mm conduit from light around walls to a rear entry terminal box through wall to a 1 way switch total run about 20ft. 4 90 degree bends in conduit run.

1.5 singles in conduit.

From switch in surface mount 16 X 16 mini trunking run along top of skirting board to a switched fused spur , down fused at 3 amp wired in 1.5 T&E spur supplied in 2.5 from ring socket .

Does that sound up to regs and safe ?

that sounds ok as long as the conduit meets the light fitting so no cables are exposed

Sorry should of said will gland conduit into fitting. I know it would look better if walls where chased but its a council property , so when we leave it would all be ripped out anyway , as they did with the previous tenant who was a qualified sparky .........

I did think about the clip in ones Noz, but as its a practice for what ive learnt I think I will stick to saddles it will make (hopefully) for a nice portfolio picture and another forum posting :pray :pray :pray

what colour conduit will u be using? it makes all the difference as i would go with black, as it bends in better on a brick wall.... white stands out to much...

You could just use 1.5mm T&E - would be cheaper than singles.

Or flex? What lamp you putting in 60W? You may be able to go a lot smaller cable if you wanted?

I'd run the cable above the ceiling.

Lift some floor boards and drill through the wall, and then place the fitting over the hole.

That way, the fitting will be out of reach of anyone without a ladder.

Not in conduit.

Nice idea Spin , but the idea is to put into practice what I am learning in college especially conduit.

i would still spread ur wings and just go for it... if it takes longer than you thought u have nothing to worry about, cos u have no client to please with the time wasted.

it is ur house to go for it... take the chance and learn from it....
