if the fan caught fire and the supply wasnt fused to 3amps, the manufactures would claim a 3A fuse would have blown when a 6A mcb didnt. Isolation you can argue, you cant argue a missing fuse. The requirement for a 3A fuse came after a fire in a block of flats that started after the fan failed and overheated.
I know not many people do it, and not everyones fan is on fire but for the sake of a switched fused spur which will act as a isolator aswell i always fit them.
