Hi new to the forum. I'm after a bit of advice. A customer who owns an amusement arcade has a fault with his fire alarm.

The system has been in for 25 years and is a single zone panel. The system as it is no where near complies with 5839,building floor area to large for single zone, cables not supported correctly etc etc.

My question is do I attempt to repair the existing system or tell the client it now doesn't comply and needs replacing?

Hello welcome to the forum.....

You honestly already know the answer to this don't you....?

Or...

put it another way....

Do you really want to waste you time repairing something that you reckon is not up for the job...

Do a proper job or walk away is the best IMHO!

I have already advised the customer that it no longer complies with the current standard and that it needs replacing. The panel is made by Carter and I've never heard of them so no chance of any spares I expect.

I've left it with him regarding the new system but I won't be surprised if I hear no more and someone follows behind and attempts to fix it.

Thanks for the replies.
