Whether a property has got 6 floors, or 1 floor, it is just a number of accessories connected onto a number of circuits. Smaller elements of the job would be costed to make the total price. There is a lot of reference material available for standard rates & charges for various trades within the building industry, Volitmax has posted about them many times in the past and Kerchings advice is true for any size of job: "Best advice I can offer is; take it in small isolated sections and don't be daunted by the bigger picture. It Needs LOTS of planning, keep a cool head and best of luck!!" Just being able to put sockets on a wall is only a very small part of running a business. To be successful you must be able to cost your products and services correctly or you will soon find you are running a loss and accumulating large debts. Most business startup advice suggests working out a price structure to see if your plan is feasible before starting business.

IMO I would treat this as several projects, and charge accordingly - staged payments!

Relax and keep a cool head - make sure your paperwork is top notch, i think with a job as large as this I would actually draw cct diagrams as well as list out ccts, leave copies (with all the other paperwork) at DB's etc, keep copies for yourself.

It may be wise to have two or more DB's as mooted previously - or if 3 phase - 1P per floor or two floors etc etc bear in mind any Ccts which cross floors i.e. 2W lighting

Certainly i would have seperate lighting Cct's on each floor - could be two or more dependant on area.

Rings on each floor etc

Think of even spread of load over boards.

Your best allie will be your plans and calcs.

Word on the street is there are "no go areas" for White people up there ffs. My olds sent to visit friends up there and got lost, rung their mates told them where they are and got told to lock your doors and get outta there. Ffs

Something else to concider. You will obviously have more than 1 board. What type of sub main will you be running to each board? I'd assume it would have to be armored cable as RCD protection on the sub main could leave a floor without lights or power should a fault occur. Unless of course the sub main cable is buried more than 50mm deep. Just something to think about

Hey guys just thought I'd let you know I got my first pj and it's a biggen (for me). Basically it's a 6 floor house and it's needing a rewire! Im gonna do it with a friend who has being going for a little while so should be ok! Just wondering really if anyone has posted a step by step guide of what I should do from the beginning! I have a rough idea from what I was taught in college but wouldn't mind someone elses point of view who's had a lot of experience! (I've a little experience in new builds but as you know it's completely different process) sorry for the length of the message but am a little daunted.. Ps socket and switch heights can be at any level (practical) if it's not a new build? Thanks for your help if anyone can.. Cheers
