fitting downlighters

hello chaps,

i fitted my first lot of down lights today, i looped through switch so there was less to faff with in the fitting though, 2 x 1.5 t&e was still a ******, i found the last one easy to do as only 1 x 1.5. how do you chaps do it? do you use an adaptor like helyblocks? or just do what you can with both t&e?

I tend to use 1.0mm on domestic and aurora or jcc fittings and its not too much of a problem to get them in. When using 1.5mm 501's and hr flex are good if expensive, use them on lv lights as well.

Usually drop down to 1mm for looping downlts, I stick with the JCC ones , OK for looping two cables . Otherwise its the spider .

i use the ashley downlight j/b for each fitting, makes job little more espensive but saves time. only ever fit l/v lights not really done many gu10's.

Trouble is you can only do that 8 times as its a spider.

i use click fire guard, they take two 1.5 easy enough

take a look at the BRB factors for insulated cielings. With 1mm you would be struggling on a 6A breaker unless the cable installed next to the plasterboard

unless your using cheap B&Q lights, you should be able to get 2x 1.5 T&E into just about any fitting.

failing that, go with the spider method

double surface box/lid & pushfits is the easiest method

They're not. Henley blocks are the 100A terminals meter tails are joined in. Not sure what you're thinking of, never heard of anything else referred to as Henley blocks.

ahhhhh!!! they are called helyconnector or something, they are push fit like wagos, sorry cant find them on the internet, will get the box so i can spell it corectly, i just call them helyblocks for short.
