What sort of HDD's?

What Operating System ?

You probably need to just re-partition the drive with

GParted in linux

or

Disk Utility in Mac OSx

Looking for a couple of old, unwanted 2TB ones for my homebrew NAS? Preferably same make & spec.  :innocent

Seriously though, depending on how many you have to wade through have you a USB caddy to try them out in?

Thanks onoff,

I have an ebay £10 jobbie which does the trick. I have 2x seagate 160/80gb and a serial stor 250gb there was a Samsung 160gb but that was in the van a bit too long and jus makes clicky noises now :(

Was looking for disks for NAS (eventually) Just testing them for now :)

I was going to offer you a SATA "drop in" caddy to borrow but cool if you have one. I must admit have loads of old odd discs kicking about from I think 100MB IDE up through 10, 16.7GB?, 80 to probably a 250GB SATA. Keep meaning to wade through them and get and odd info off them before...I don't know...reformatting?

No doubt a few of them will go "clicky" when madam decides to tidy the cupboard as she does now and then!

Tbh after putting an SSD in this, the "work horse" pc can't think what I'd use an old IDE for!

Probably got a few more in the loft, its like a computer graveyard up there

Was thinking what am I going to do with an 80gb drive??? My phone nearly has more space !

Bit of pledge does wonders to electronic equipment :innocent

Also thanks AD3, I was suffering with retard yesterday and couldn't see the wood through the trees.... Disk utility worked a treat :D

I have a 40MB HDD somewhere, I use it as a training aid if ever I need to, as I can take it apart etc. and not worry.

It is a 5.25" full height, the disk that came in my very first owned PC, running DOS4.01.

386Sx processor, 2MB ram.

I also had a 24 pin A3 dot matrix printer!  Wow!

This laptop is running 16GB of ram!

How things move on in 27 years...

Can you strip it down blindfolded?

First pc in the house was an amstrad with big old floppy disc's!

Then we had a 486 with a dot matrix that died of a virus :( that was replaced by a pentium with a built in 56k modem!

Ooh the luxury!

:)
