Fused Switch replacement

Hi All, thank you in advance.

I have today had a new dishwasher Installed, the old on was integrated and was hardwired.

I have put a new face plate on and everything was fine, the old fused connector needed changing, see the image and I tried to replace with a new one, this didn’t work, any ideas?

Well if the right hand burnt /knackered item was the new one then it's either
A) connected wrong
B) live wired squashed on earth bar , resulting in the smoke escaping and leaving its calling card

The "smoke stain" is by the earth terminal, so either the wrong wire was put in the earth terminal, or the pinched wire theory above is correct.

Can I try again with the smoked switch or shall I called a professional?

I'd bin it. There again it's LAP so I wouldn't have used it in the first place, sorry
