hi guys

pricing up for garden lights, all different kinds of light being fitted so using a wiska box under the decking to feed them all.

i need advise on fitting the post lights as they won't take swa.

i have been looking at a few options inc running separate feeds from wiska box, looping in and out of Pratley boxes, or suitable enclosure under the light and flex to the light fitting, the main issue is going from swa to flex in the small space under the post light.

any advise thanks

tom, they used to make buriable [is that a word?] ones, dont they do them anymore?

otherwise you could fill 'em with gel, or use most any IP box and gel it.

If it's under decking why not do away with the swa altogether and clip some flex for the whole lot. Or use the small wiska boxes for each fitting looping the swa into them using the wiska earth bar, u can get them from tlc too. Though if joint is to go into ground then agree with the pratley boxes.

They do do underground ones mate, but that would mean buring the flex up to the light

wiska box under each light may be better i am not sure the best way to go about it.

may be a wiska box filled with magic gell just under the slab then bring flex up to the light

My missis got some outside lights fitted into the decking her ex installed them but straight onto a plug. I don't know if they are mains or knocked down using a transformer I will have to have a look. But I'm looking for some advise to fix the problem as only 2 out of the 6 work. I was thinking first there should be a proper rated outside socket connecting should be fitted which is weather proof. And that should be put onto an RCD protection from the cu . Also depending on if it's mains or transformer? Any advise welcome as I'm just a student my self.

Would the length of the run have to taken into account with voltage drop ?
