Day of rcd's today.

(1) Went to a fault today 100A 100mA S type rcd on TT system not resetting.

Customer had put kettle on & both 30mA & 100mA rcd's tripped apparently. Anyway she couldnt get the 100mA to reset (neither could I), I IR tested all circuits with no problems, changed the 100mA for a temp 30mA & all is now well (back in the morning to put new S type in).

Anybody had a time delay go up the swanny like this one? first for me.

(2)Called by my mate to one of his jobs as he couldnt get the rcd to test on the new lighting circuit, meter kept comming up with >50v.

He changed rcd still had the same problem, so he thought it was his meter hence the call to me to borrow mine.

Tried to test & got >50v ?:| :_|

Took out the brass dimmer switch & the rcd tested ok.

Again a first for me.

Had a Wylex one in an old board that would not trip out in time but had a spare which worked saved a board change that time. Got called out to a failed voltage operated trip a few months back changed that for an Rcd but had to disconnect one faulty circuit avoiding that job though the wiring is well old and the chaps is a bit dodgy.
