Like is said Oh Dear Oh DearMy god i am repeating myself - Steptoe please slap me

NVQ3 is one of those No Valid Qualifications as far as i know

There are many things that determine what and who you are and not all those are paper based

If you search the forum there are many many views and topics on what an electrican is and what makes you competant

Im no expert i just talk red rubbish :slap
Competent, in the eyes of a scheme, try getting a job on a proper building site

You're Napit card would class you as a labourer

Don't give a **** what you say without JIB you're not an electrician

As I said before try doing proper work

I will leave the words of wisdom for the Doc. There is no need for threads like this, arguments for the sake of it.

You do appear to be under the illusion that "schemes" somehow define competence. This is an incorrect statement as membership of any approved body of any sort is not compulsory for any person trading within the electrical industry. Proper work, providing some goods or services for financial renumeration can be carried out by any competent person in their respective field of work and the electrical industry covers a very broad spectrum of work and does not have any statutory boundaries about who may or may not perform work in it. As such competence will be varied for specific sectors of the industry. It is also true that it is often those who feel most insecure also have inability to control their language or look at things from an objective viewpoint. Before 2005 and the introduction of part P many electricians chose not to be a member of any scheme at all, as their work did not require it. Following the introduction of part P, many competent electricians chose the cheapest option to allow them to self certify any domestic work they did, thus adopting a DI membership & logo. To say that by joining a scheme they have apparent reduced their level of competence and are no longer electrician's is really not the most logical conclusion?. I will just add. Not all electrical work is done on building sites. Some is in factories, offices, shops, homes that are already built!
