I'm working on a big new build. To meet building regs 75% low energy lamps, my customer is going to need something in the order of 100 "low energy" GU10 lamps.

CFL are no good as they have a different shape, often larger body.

So it's going to have to be LED

Now CPC have a lot of cheap GU10 LED's on offer at the moment. But the brightness is expressed in Lumens.

So to make a comparison, how many Lumens is a standard 35W halogen GU10

The CPC LED GU10's range from 45 Lm (0.8W LED for

As above, a 10w is as bright as a 50w standard gu10- so 5w is a around 35w standard gu10. So to get your led to be as bright as a 35w, it will have to be around 300 lumen

Does it work like that though samson. I find it depends on make rather than wattage is what gives you the lumens. There is some much LED stuff on the market and each gives different results.

Here are a couple of photos of a job I completed a few months ago,,, I put in 15 3x3W Kosnic fittings in a 3m ceiling spaced at 1m om eachother.

The light output is very comparable with 50W halogens

It's not me that's got to pay for them, but the thought of 100 odd LED's at a tenner each would upset me somewhat.

I'm going to place a CPC order soon, so I might just buy a couple for "research" and see.

Mind, the owner spent

It's true batty there are so many out there, and a lot give different results. I was just giving a ballpark figure to go on. And going off that I fitted 5 1.5 I think there are LEDs in cool blue in our built in wardrobe, and I was shocked at the light out put, thought they were going to be rubbish but great for things like that, and we're very cheap from electricfix.

What fittings are those?

This customer has bought all standard GU10's, and I've fitted half of them already, so it has to be GU10's i'm afraid.

To be honest the 3.3 would be the same as a 35 watt, coz on the job I'm on at the min I'm fitting loads, and I'm using kosnic 4.5 which is the equivalent to 42 watt,

ive started using led hut for my leds, theve got a 3 watt which is equiv to 45w used about 200 to date and had 1 failure which was replaced straight away. theyve got 2 year guarentee and same size as standard gu10.open up a trade account and are about

I would try and find a wholesalers that also has done setup on display, as I have found there are so many different types on the market at present. Some offering better brightness and different colors.

yep, dont just go on lumens dave, the colour temp makes a massive difference,

I find that cool white, even though it may have less actual lumens, actually gives the impression of being brighter.

I use Kosnic 5W, which is 300lm on Warm White.

I put them where a customer would normally want 50W and they're always happy.
