Heat resistant sleeving

Shouls I just stick to the 6mm t&e then and use that terminate and forget about the sleeving

 
You don't need sleeving.....

Cookers are designed to keep heat IN... NOT let it OUT

IF the rear of the oven was getting that hot.. Then by definition the termination plates would also be very hot...

AND thus the heat would be traveling internally up the copper conductors anyway..!

and melting the T&E from the inside to out!!

Also the termination points are normally toward the bottom of the oven and HEAT RISES!!

So your sleeving is a complete waste of time..

Have you ever dismantled cooker to see how the internal oven unit is enclosed in insualtion..?

before the external metal structure??

 
This is definitely a case of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

your oven is wired the same way 99% of ovens / cookers are wired. I have never seen a single failure due to excess heat on the back of a cooker or oven.

I've seen failures due to loose terminals, but that's all.

Leave it alone.

 
i dont think my girlfriend will be too happy if she wakes up and im taking the oven to bits....i know she wasnt when i did the washing machine :D

 
No I have never dismantled one,but I get what you are getting at. The insulation will stop the heat from raching the outer metal casing. I will just terminate as is then using the existing 6mm

you were so concerned thinking it needs heat resistant sleeving on...

You may as well get one of these parked outside as well.....

Should that read, "I'll just leave it as it is" , since you only moved it to clean it. :p (which is probably a first, as every free-standing cooker I've had the misfortune of working on is a grease spattered dust magnet)
