Heated Clothes Drier

Good afternoon,
This is a quick fix, but in no way something to leave. Drier out of warranty.
Original mains cable broke just outside entry to leg leaving a very short portion protruding. No way to get into leg to fit completely new cable.
Any thoughts on a safe robust fix?

Are you sure you can't get into it? I always start from the premise that it's been put together, so how?

And if you can't get into it, it is likely to be a cheap product that probably isn't worth repairing anyway

No Geoff, can’t get into it and cost over £150, hence repair.

Unless you can access more of the sheathed cable that enters the leg... Then, "safe and robust" are probably not an option...?

e.g. Although wiring regulations do not actually apply to plug-in accessories...
you can get some useful tips for electrically safe repairs from what BS761 wiring regs do recommend..

Such as reegulations 526.5 & 526.8, that require all terminations and joints to be within suitable enclosures with no exposed unsheathed, just insulated conductors... i.e. the Brown Blue & Green/yellow bits in your photos must NOT be exposed!!

Basically you need to be able to clamp the white sheathing of the two ends of flex inside of an insulated enclosure....
Once you have them clamped inside an appropriate enclosure.. then any suitable termination Screw/Wago etc.. would be ok...

BUT... from your photos, your problem is that you don't appear to have enough workable flex poking out from the leg... ??

The current arrangement looks potentially dangerous in my opinion..
And I would not like any of my close friends or family being near that while it is plugged in!!

£150 for a new one is cheap in my books compared to the possibility of a serous injury or fatality, as electricity can kill a healthy adult in less than a second?

No Geoff, can’t get into it and cost over £150, hence repair.

So commercially it is a barely viable repair, as a DIY repair is it worth the risk of a serious or fatal injury to a family member

The problem you have is looking at what little cable is still protruding from the unit there is no real viable safe repair that could be done unless you could custom 3D print a clamp / bracket to fasten a small junction box over the cable and make a joint that way.
One thing is certain that bodged temporary repair should not be put into service by any sensible person
