When bathroom basins were hung on brackets instead of pedestals it was common practise for the Sanitary Engineer To mount said basin at a height into, which he could pee into it.

there was a  very short fat plumber around here ( think Tony Cable sized) whose basins were always a little low.....easy to spot his jobs!

But if its a light switch for when your sat on the kazeee then 2'6" would be better......

Why do you need a light switch to work while you are on the throne?

Besides with all that water in the bog its better to have the switch outside the toilet or use a pull cord.

:tongue in cheek

Some people spend a long time on the bog, perhaps it got dark while waiting for movement?

Why move from the bog?

I've got a theory about this one.

Socket height will continue to rise and switch height will continue to drop.

Eventually everything will be installed at 1m from the floor.

This is to facilitate wheelchair users.

I'm convinced that by the time 18th edition amendment 3 comes around....

80% of the population will be too lazy to walk.

an architiect friend of mine insists on light switches being the same height as door-knobs to maintain the same lines.
I like that.

i will go with 1150mm to centre of switches, sockets and door handles, everywhere.
